Pekan Sailfish fishing

Kuala Rompin is already famous for it's world class Sailfish fishing, not many anglers know about the Sailfish action South-east of the small town of Pekan north of Kuala Rompin. The best Sailfish areas we normally fish out of Rompin in August to end of October (around Palau Berhala and the banks south and south east of Berhala island) are located closer to Pekan town than from Rompin. Pekan is located 40 km south of Kuantan Town, the capital of Pahang state and 78 km north of Rompin. The advantage of departing from Pekan compared to from Kuala Rompin is that the Sailfish fishing areas is closer to Pekan than from Kuala Rompin (you get more fishing time at the prime Sailfish areas with a Pekan departure), it's also much easier to travel to Pekan compared to Kuala Rompin from overseas as there are daily flights to Kuantan airport (35 km north of Pekan) from both Singapore and from Kuala Lumpur, there are also many daily air-con busses departing from Kuala Lumpur bus terminal to Kuantan, and hotels in Pekan and Kuantan are better and lower priced than than in Rompin. The daily fishing charter rate (private charter) for a 10 hour trip for max 4 anglers is 750 USD in Pekan compared to 800 USD in Rompin.
